I wish we had a camera for the moment the wind came up and our flyers flew…a bunch of them scattered in an instant. There were many folks around who had been watching us for some time, so they scrambled to gather them as we tried–but quickly realized we were tangled. The balloons we tie to our wrists tend to weave round each other, esp at Daley where the wind comes from all directions at once. We were pretty helpless as individuals at that point. I thought that was appropriate. I watched one boy, who was with his mother and father, not notice us even though we were right next to him, for a good while, and then when he did see us, he had the most perplexed expression. He looked at us like this for a full minute before going to his mother, asking her something, then giving her a hug. That was sweet.
A group of German tourist also got a photo with us, like we were a monument or some other tourist attraction. That, I think, will happen a lot.
