Adams and State
February 4, 2:45-3:30 pm
I stand up straight, my arms around you
Your breath crystallizes and dissolves in the noise
someone passes and smiles
I am a radiant red obstruction.
Oh three-piece suit!
Between us is a gap that calls out to be closed
Just run up and profess your everlasting love
or, glance at the spectacle and shuffle off dimly, your choice.
Oh straight-legged hipster!
Do you find our performative gesture radically subverts the politics of urban space?
If not, we still want your warm embrace
Right here, in the inch between two abdomens,
a warmth develops
and emanates beyond our collective shape
inviting, comforting, provoking
